Digital Society is an interdisciplinary research lab and network of researchers and students working in the field of computer science, social science, business science and the humanities. We join forces with companies and organisations, councils and associations to create sustainable solutions for the challenges arising when data, algorithms and new technologies are integrated in media, products and platforms, thereby becoming a crucial part of our everyday lives and interactions, businesses and organisations.
Three categories of “grand challenges” create the basis for concrete study and research projects, dialogue forums, debates and seminars which are to foster new knowledge, tools and processes, guidelines and political memorandums and thereby fuel changes that correspond to the grand challenges in our digital society.
We want to ensure that the companies and organisations designing products and regulations have the most well-informed knowledge to act upon including perspectives regarding ethics, equality, justice, user practice etc. which become vital in the light of the industriel revolution 4.0 and the development of digital media, services and IoT’s. For that reason we undertake a human centred and societal approach to the grand challenges identified, aiming to provide key insights that supplements the financial, technical and legislative line of thinking.
The annual Aarhus University IT-City hackathon, AU Hack 2018, is to be planned and in that connection, the steering group is looking for student volunteers who would like to join the making of this awesome interdisciplinary hackathon which features exciting business cases, cool events and inspiring talks and – most importantly – a bunch of great people from various educations all interested in digital product and business development.
This is a great opportunity for you to try out your skills, meet students from other educations and expand your network.
